A few hours without pain

Standard

For the last year and a half I have been experiencing lower back pain and hip pain. I’m a slightly stubborn person and I didn’t want to go to the doctors right away. At first I thought it was because of a bad bed or moving wrong. My back had always ached for one reason or another my whole life (I hold my stress in nice knots in my shoulders and I have large breasts so back aches come with the territory).

The breaking point was when after gardening (something I love to do) would cause me to be in pain and it was so bad that I had muscle spasms wrapping around my torso making it hard to breath. So I went to the doctors, gave me some muscle relaxers and get an x-ray. That was in the summer.

Today, I went back to the doctor. I made a promise to my boyfriend that I would after the holidays (Thanksgiving after cooking all day and the day before basically hobbled me that night). The result of the doctors, getting an MRI, different drugs and some tests. I hate taking drugs, I am very stubborn about it. But this afternoon the new script that the doctor gave actually gave me 5 hours of no pain.

I don’t know how people handle chronic pain. I feel that I can take a lot of pain, but the constant pain is something that slowly wears you down. It really does make you not want to do things, even normal every day things like shopping.  While I don’t like taking the drugs, I do enjoy being able to sit and stand without being in pain.
